In the city of Valencia lies an airport that is considered one of the busiest in the country and in the region it is located in, with the same name. Although Valencia Airport, also known as Manises Airport, located in the region’s capital, it is only the second busiest airport there, after Alicante Airport. Valencia Airport serves millions of passengers per year going to and from international and domestic areas such as Madrid, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Munich, Prague, Sofia and Geneva, among others.
The city of Old and New
The city is the largest city in the region of Valencia and also its capital. It is also the third largest in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. The city of Valencia is one of striking contrasts. There are beautiful buildings that have stood the tests of time and have remained untarnished while there are also buildings that will rival any futuristic architecture that has only been thought of but never physically done.
One of the most famous attractions in the city is the Antiguo Cauce del Rio Turia or the Turia Gardens, a garden of beauty and historical relevance. Once a riverbed, it has been transformed to a beautiful park that is a crowd favourite. It has a fountain, a sports garden and a children’s playground. Other gardens and parks of note are the Placa de l’Ajuntament where the city hall is located, the jardin Botanico and others.
Among many museums in Valencia, one strikes to be more futuristic than the others. The Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciencies or the City of Arts and Sciences beautiful entertainment and cultural complex which is situated in the former Turia bed. In it are the L’Hemisferic, El Museu de les, Ciencies Principe Felipe, L’Umbracle, L’Oceanografic, El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, El Pont de l’Assut de l’Or, L’Agora and the Torres de Valencia , each serving their own purposes like an opera house, large aquarium and an interactive museum.
