The quaint little city of San Sebastian is served by the San Sebastian Airport but is located in the municipality of Hondarribia. The airport, which is located in the Basque Country, Spain, has direct domestic flights within the country particularly serving Madrid and recently also Barcelona. Other airports that serve international locations, that are are within close proximity, are the Bilbao Airport and the Biarritz Airport.
When in San Sebastian
Its easy to get lost in a big city but in San Sebastian, a relatively smaller city than those in the rest of Spain and Europe, you’ll get lost in the activity. There are two beaches that have become very popular among tourists and locals as the beautiful golden sand and clear blue water overlook the historical and architecturally inspired buildings and churches that dot the city. The two beaches are the larger and relaxing La Concha beach on the west side and the adventure-driven La Zurriola in its opposite.
Aside from hanging out in the beach there are other activities like hiking, kayaking, playing tennis and squash and visiting places like the Aquarium by the Paseo de Kaiko or the Amusement Park near La Concha bay.
Many say that with Spanish food, you can never go wrong with the gastronomic wonders of the Basque cuisine. In fact, many of its success is attributed the restaurants and bars found in San Sebastian. Although, not originally from San Sebastian, tapas are a very big hit on the local cuisine with most restaurants bursting at the seams with these heavy meal subs.
