Bull Running in Spain
If bulls are famous in Spain, that is because Pamplona made them so. Pamplona, is a historical city in Spain and the capital of the Chartered Community of Navarre. Pamplona where the most famous bull running festival in Spain and has been broadcasted nationwide for over 30 years.
Bull running, which is also known as “encierro” in Spanish, is a practice where young lads try and escape from about six bulls The bull running commences the eight-day festival that is the Sanfermines in honour of San Fermin, the patron saint. The festival has stood the test of time, its beginnings marked by a simple need to make cattle move faster through agitation and fear. Since its supposed inception during the early 14th century, it has long since turned into a tradition and a festival.
The bull ring Pamplona was rebuilt in 1923 and is the third largest in the world. The two larger ones are the bullrings of Mexico and Madrid, also known places for bull running and bull fighting.
