The capital of the Costa del Sol
As one of the oldest cities not only in Spain and Europe but the entire world, Malaga has had its fair share of contributions in the world. Although not as particularly well-known as its more famous brother cities, the city is one of the most populous areas in Spain being the sixth in the country and number one in Andalusia, the autonomous community it is located in. The city prides itself in large industrial and business sectors such as construction, technology and of course, tourism.
The city is where Pablo Picasso, a great Spanish artist, was born so naturally, there is a museum dedicated only to him. The Museo Picasso Malaga is located in the Palacio de los Co contains about 300 works by the artist that were donated by the members of the Picasso descent. Still there are a number of other museums that are worth a tour. There are more historical museums such as Museo Carmen Thyssen and the Museo de Malaga and the more modern museums like the Museum of Glass and Crystal, CAC Malaga and the Museo Interactivo de la Musica.
There are three major festivals and events that are held in the city of Malaga. The Holy Week, the Feria de Malaga (August Malaga Fair) and the Malaga Film Festival. In the latter event, films are made in dedication of the festival and the films are shown all over the world. During the Feria, there are street dancing, Flamenco dancing and even bullfights at La Malagueta. At night, there are celebrations at Recinto Ferial where there are clubs, restaurants and rides and games.
To get around the city, a campervan hire is advisable to be able to visit all the places, sights, sounds and attractions. Meanwhile, to get to the city, the Malaga Airport is available for trips to and from local and international locations like Dublin, New York, Helsinki, Brussels and Berlin, among other places.
