Summary of Rental Conditions

Hippie Camper is a division of Apollo Motorhome Holidays. This document contains a brief summary of the Hippie rental conditions. The full details of our rental contract do apply. Rates quoted are in New Zealand dollars.

Rental Charges

Day of pick up and day of drop off are included as days of rental regardless of time of pick up and drop off. When a rental moves from one rate season into the next, the calculation is based on both rates.

Inclusive Rate

Hippie offer an Inclusive Rate - please enquire if you would like a quote for your rental.

The Inclusive Rate includes: Liability Reduction Option 2, Unlimited Kilometres, 12.5% GST, Complimentary Airport Transfers, Personal Kits, Kitchen Kit, Diesel Recovery Tax, Hippie Welcome Pack, Pre-Hire Cleaning Fees, 24hr Roadside Assistance, Extra Driver Fees, Maps and Camp Ground Guides, LP Gas Refill Fee and Camp Chairs and Table.

Rental Duration

The minimum rental for all vehicles is 10 days.

Exceptions: Between 15 December 2008 and 10 January 2009 a 14-day minimum rental period applies. Minimum rental periods are subject to change during peak seasons.

Branches

Hippie has branches in Auckland and Christchurch. Branches are open seven days a week, 8am to 4:30pm. The latest pick-up or drop-off is 4.00pm.

Branches will be closed Christmas Day, New Years Day and Good Friday.

Transfer

Vehicles must be collected and returned to our branches (not airports). Transfers to and from the Hippie branch are not included in the rental price. It is the renter's responsibility to get to and from the branch.

Diesel Tax Recovery Fee

The Diesel Tax Recovery fee is currently not payable for the Hippie Deluxe campervan.

Taxes

Our rates include GST of 12.5%.

Vehicle Registration Recovery Fee

A charge of 2.5% of the total rental cost will be levied to cover vehicle registration, duties and other associated costs and administration fees.

Credit Cards

Our preferred payment method is by credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club. Visa and MasterCard will incur an additional 1.75% on any transaction, including the Bond. American Express and Diners Club will incur an additional 4.5% surcharge fee on any transaction, including the Bond.

Exchange Rate / Currency Variations

All credit card transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Hippie do not accept any liability for variances up or down. Refunds by credit card can take up to 15 working days depending on the renter's Financial Institution.

Driver's Licence

Age Restrictions

The minimum age to drive the vehicle is 18 years and the maximum age is 75 years. Drivers over the age of 75 years are not permitted to drive the Hippie vehicle.

Kitchen and Personal Kits

Each vehicle is supplied with complimentary living equipment (such as bedding, cooking equipment, eating utensils, bath and tea towels.)

Maps and Campground Guides

Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary Road Atlas as well as campground guides.

Hippie clients receive 10% discount at Kiwi Holiday Parks. (Discount card provided at pick-up).

Vehicle Consultation

On pick up of the vehicle our staff will provide a complimentary vehicle consultation. This includes explaining all the interior and exterior features of the vehicle as well as driving tips.

Hippie Welcome Pack

Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary Hippie Pack for the first night. The pack contains, m atches, mini shampoo and conditioner, dishwashing liquid, sponge, soap, salt and pepper, coffee, tea and sugar satchels.

Snow Chains

Cost is $50 per rental.

Snow chains can be fitted to the Hippie cars and motorhomes. Hippie staff will show clients how to properly fit the snow chains, however it is the client's responsibility to fit the chains to their vehicle when required. Please note that clients are responsible at all times for any damage caused to the motorhome by the use of snow chains, regardless of any Liability Protection Package taken.

Bikes and Surfboards

Bikes and surfboards can be strapped to the rook racks on the Deluxe Hippie Camper.

With all bulky items, Hippie Camper does not accept any responsibility for any damage caused to the client's property. However clients are responsible for any damage that the bulky items cause to the rental vehicle, regardless of any Liability Cover taken.

Bike Hire

Hippie offers bikes for hire with their vehicles. The following conditions apply:

- NZ$6.00 per day, per bike (no maximum).
- A maximum of 2 bikes allowed per vehicle.
- Bikes must be pre-booked to ensure availability.
- Bike hire is inclusive of helmet (Size M and L available), lock and repair kit.
- Bikes are not insured and for any damage or loss of the bikes, clients are responsible up to NZ$330.00 per bike (i.e. the cost of a new bike), irrespective of any vehicle Liability Cover taken. This money will be taken of the client's Bond.
- Clients are responsible for any damage that the bikes cause to the rental vehicle, regardless of any Liability Cover taken.

Baby and Booster Seats

Cannot be fitted in the Hippie Deluxe campervan.

First Aid Kits

A First Aid kit is supplied in every vehicle. If the seal is broken or the Kit is not returned the Kit becomes the property of the renter and a $35 fee is charged when the vehicle is returned.

L.P. Gas Refill Service Fee

The gas canister is supplied full. A service fee of $15 is payable on pick up of the vehicle.

The gas canister can be returned empty to the branch at the completion of the rental.

One Way Rentals

A one-way fee of $220 is charged for rentals between the North and South Islands (and vice versa) where pick-up is between 01 November 2008 and 31 March 2009.

Travel Restrictions

The Hippie Camper can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads or well-maintained access roads less than 500 metres long to recognised campgrounds.

No vehicle shall be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook), Bluff Road that runs between Kuatunu and Mataurangi and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula).

Please note that in the event of an accident or breakdown in a remote area or in an area not permitted by Hippie, you are responsible for all costs associated with the recovery of the vehicle to Hippie's nearest branch.

Change of Vehicle

We reserve the right to substitute a comparable vehicle or superior vehicle at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract, and does not entitle the renter to any refund.

Repairs/Breakdowns

Although we run late model vehicles, it may happen that small repairs are required. Repairs up to $50 may be affected without authorization and will be reimbursed. For amounts over $50, Hippie will need to be informed in advance. All vehicles are enrolled in the New Zealand Automobile Association and 24hr emergency roadside assistance is available.

Traffic Infringements

We reserve the right to charge the renter for any speeding or parking fines, traffic infringements, road toll fines. An additional administration fee of $75 will apply to cover the costs of processing.

Limit of Liability

In the event of no alternative vehicle being available to the renter our liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge or in the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the renter) the remainder of the hire period.

Booking Amendments

If an amendment is made to the rental dates within 14 days of collection, no refund will be made if the length of hire is shortened (that is; the rental will be charged at the number of days originally booked). A relocation fee may apply if the collection or return location is amended within 14 days of vehicle pick up or if notification occurs during the hire.

If the renter wishes to change the drop off destination after the rental has commenced, they first must obtain authorisation from the Hippie Head Office. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of $500 will be charged.

If the customer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Reservations. This is subject to availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone or at an Hippie Branch immediately on confirmation of the rental extension. The additional days will be at the Gross Rate available at the time of the extension.

Failure to obtain authorisation will result in the renter being charged double the daily gross rental rate.

Booking Amendments - Flex Rate Bookings

•  Prior to pick-up, changes or rental extensions will be based on the current flex rate, not the flex rate originally booked in. All rental days will be charged at the new flex rate, not just the days being extended.

•  After pick-up, changes or rental extensions must be made through Hippie directly. The days being extended will be based on Hippie's standard (published) rates and not flex rates.

Cleaning

The vehicle must be returned in a reasonable state of cleanliness or the hirer may be charged a cleaning fee up to $250. If applicable, the toilet and waste (grey) water tank must both be returned empty or a $150 cleaning charged will be imposed.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of Travel Insurance.

PROTECTION PACKAGE

Personal Injury

New Zealand legislation provides limited coverage for personal injury. Hippie Camper stronly recommends that all people travelling in New Zealand take out their own personal travel insurance.

Property Damage

The Vehicle is insured for damage to it or damage to the property of a third party. However you are responsible up to the amount of the applicable Liability for the cost of such damage to third party property, or to the rented Vehicle. You are also responsible for the cost of demurrage for the period the Vehicle is unavailable due to repairs. The Liability applies in respect of each claim, not per rental.

The Liability is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident is reported to Hippie Camper, not at the completion of the rental Period.

Bond

Payment of the Bond is only accepted by credit card. The amount of the Bond will be debited to the credit card account immediately. An administration fee equal to the merchant surcharge applies.

The credit card holder must be present and able to sign for the Bond upon vehicle collection. The credit card holder is jointly and severally liable for any damage to the rental vehicle.

*** Please keep in mind that the Liability (and relevant Bond) applies in respect of each claim, not per rental. Therefore you may need to put up multiple Bonds if you have multiple accidents or damage claims while on hire. ***

The Bond is fully refundable when the vehicle is returned to the correct location on time, is full of fuel and all other terms of the Rental Contract have been complied with. If there is damage to the vehicle on its return, the Bond will be used to cover the cost of such damage up to the amount of the relevant Liability. However, if the terms of the Rental Contract are breached and the Bond is insufficient to cover the damage then any extra cost will be charged.
