Summary of Rental Conditions

Cheapa Campa is a division of Apollo Motorhome Holidays. This document contains a brief summary of the Cheapa rental conditions. The full details of our rental contract do apply. Rates quoted are in New Zealand dollars.

Rental Charges

Day of pick up and day of drop off are included as days of rental regardless of time of pick up and drop off. When a rental moves from one rate season into the next, the calculation is based on both rates.

Inclusive Rate

Cheapa offer an Inclusive Rate - please enquire if you would like a quote for your rental.

The Inclusive Rate includes: Liability Reduction Option 2, Unlimited Kilometres, 12.5% GST, Complimentary Airport Transfers, Personal Kits, Kitchen Kit, Diesel Recovery Tax, Cheapa Welcome Pack, Pre-Hire Cleaning Fees, 24hr Roadside Assistance, Extra Driver Fees, Maps and Camp Ground Guides, One Way Rental Fee, LP Gas Refill Fee, Camp Chairs and Table and Baby or Booster Seats (on request).

Rental Duration

The minimum rental for all vehicles is five days. A one-way rental has a minimum rental period of at least seven days.

Exceptions: Between 23 December 2007 and 10 January 2008 a 10-day minimum rental period applies. Minimum rental periods are subject to change during peak seasons.

Branches

Cheapa has branches in Auckland and Christchurch. Branches are open seven days a week, 8am to 4:30pm. The latest pick-up or drop-off is 4.00pm.

Branches will be closed Christmas Day, New Years Day and Good Friday.

Transfer

Vehicles must be collected and returned to our branches (not airports). Transfers to and from the Cheapa branch are provided free of charge from the Airports (within branch opening hours).

Prior to your trip, please advise Salamanda Travel your flight arrival details (flight number and arrival time). Upon arrival at Auckland or Christchurch Airport, please call Cheapa on toll-free 0800 113 131 to arrange your pick-up.

Diesel Tax Recovery Fee

The Diesel Tax Recovery fee will be calculated and collected on return of your vehicle based on the kilometres travelled during your hire. (The fee is included in the Inclusive package price).

The vehicle rates per 100km are as follows:

2 Berth: Nil
2 Berth (Toilet & Shower): NZ$3.70
4 Berth: NZ$3.90

Rates are subject to Government changes.

Taxes

Our rates include GST of 12.5%.

Credit Cards

Our preferred payment method is by credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club. Visa and MasterCard will incur an additional 1.5% on any transaction, including the Bond. American Express and Diners Club will incur an additional 4% surcharge fee on any transaction, including the Bond.

Exchange Rate / Currency Variations

All credit card transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Cheapa do not accept any liability for variances up or down. Refunds by credit card can take up to 15 working days depending on the renter's Financial Institution.

Driver's Licence

Age Restrictions

The minimum age to drive the vehicle is 21 years and the maximum age is 75 years. Drivers over the age of 75 years are not permitted to drive the Cheapa vehicle.

Kitchen Equipment

Each vehicle is supplied with complimentary kitchen equipment (such as plates, bowls, knives, forks, spoons, bottle/can opener, mixing bowls, colander, saucepans, frying pans, cooking utensils, chopping board, kettle, teapot, toaster and tea towel).

General Equipment

Each vehicle is supplied with complimentary general equipment (such as pegs and clothes line, dustpan/brush, fire extinguisher, bucket/hose, broom, matches, ice cube tray, coat hangers and toilet chemicals).

Linen and Bedding Kits

Linen and bedding are not included for free in the Cheapa vehicles. Linen and Bedding Kits cost NZ$35 per person per rental.

Each Bedding Kit includes (per person): 1 x doona/duvet (sleeping bags in 2/3 Berth Hitop), bed sheet, pillow, pillow case and bath towel.

Maps and Campground Guides

Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary Road Atlas as well as campground guides.

Cheapa clients receive 10% discount at Kiwi Holiday Parks. (Discount card provided at pick-up).

Vehicle Consultation

On pick up of the vehicle our staff will provide a complimentary vehicle consultation. This includes explaining all the interior and exterior features of the vehicle as well as driving tips.

Cheapa Welcome Pack

Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary Cheapa Pack for the first night. The pack contains, m atches, mini shampoo and conditioner, dishwashing liquid, sponge, soap, salt and pepper, coffee, tea and sugar satchels.

$15 each per rental

$20 per rental

Snow Chains

Cost is $50 per rental.

Snow chains can be fitted to the Cheapa cars and motorhomes. Cheapa staff will show clients how to properly fit the snow chains, however it is the client's responsibility to fit the chains to their vehicle when required. Please note that clients are responsible at all times for any damage caused to the motorhome by the use of snow chains, regardless of any Liability Protection Package taken.

Bikes and Surfboards

Bulky items, such as surfboards, are not permitted in (or on) the Cheapa vehicles. The Cheapa vehicles do not come with roof racks, bike racks or tow bars. Items such as golf clubs and fold up wheelchairs are permitted.

Cheapa permits up to 2 bikes in each vehicle. The bikes need to be stored inside the vehicle with a proper bike bag. The vehicles do not come with roof racks or bike racks. Please consider the amount of interior space in the rental vehicle before bringing your bike.

With all bulky items, Cheapa does not accept any responsibility for any damage caused to the client's property. However clients are responsible for any damage that the bulky items cause to the rental vehicle, regardless of any Liability Cover taken.

Bike Hire

Cheapa offers bikes for hire with their vehicles. The following conditions apply:

- NZ$6.00 per day, per bike (no maximum).
- A maximum of 2 bikes allowed per vehicle.

- Bikes must be pre-booked to ensure availability.

- Bike hire is inclusive of helmet (Size M and L available), lock and repair kit.

- Bikes are not insured and for any damage or loss of the bikes, clients are responsible up to NZ$330.00 per bike (i.e. the cost of a new bike), irrespective of any vehicle Liability Cover taken. This money will be taken of the client's Bond.

- Clients are responsible for any damage that the bikes cause to the rental vehicle, regardless of any Liability Cover taken.

Baby and Booster Seat Configurations

Cheapa 2/3 Berth Hitop: Cannot be fitted
Cheapa 2 Berth S/T: Cannot be fitted
Cheapa 4 Berth: 2 x Baby Seats OR 1 x Baby Seat and 1 x Booster Seat

Child restraints from overseas may not conform to the stringent standards required in New Zealand. Cheapa therefore strongly recommends overseas renters not to bring their own child restraints, as they will not be allowed to use them in Cheapa vehicles.

In New Zealand Cheapa offers a free transfer to the Cheapa branch from the Airport and vice versa. If clients have children that require a child restraint then Cheapa will order a taxi with the appropriate child restraints and Cheapa will pay for the taxi transfer (please keep taxi receipt).

Baby Capsules

Baby capsules are not permitted in any Cheapa vehicle.

Baby Seats

Cost is $20 per rental.

Baby Seats are required for young children as follows:

- 9 to 18 kg weight; or
- 6 months to 4 years of age (on average); or
- above 70cm in length.

Booster Seats

Cost is $20 per rental.

Booster Seats are required for young children as follows:

- 14 to 26 kg weight; or
- 4 to 7 years of age (on average).

First Aid Kits

A First Aid kit is supplied in every vehicle. If the seal is broken or the Kit is not returned the Kit becomes the property of the renter and a $35 fee is charged when the vehicle is returned.

Kruse Commentary System

$10 per day per rental

L.P. Gas Refill Service Fee

The gas bottle(s) is supplied full. A service fee is payable on pick up of the vehicle:

$15 - Hitop Camper / 2 Berth S/T
$30 - 4 Berth

The gas bottle can be returned empty to Cheapa at the completion of the rental. The fee applies for each part of a multiple rental.

Multiple Rentals

Consecutive rentals can be combined to qualify for a long-term discount rate (our minimum rental period rules still apply). Australia and Zealand rentals as well as car and motorhome rentals can also be combined for long-term discounts providing rental is within a 3-month period. If drop off of a vehicle and pick up of a new vehicle occurs on the same day then a day each will be charged per respective vehicle. Multiple rentals are treated as separate rentals under the minimum rental period conditions.

One Way Rentals

There is no fee for one-way rentals.

Travel Restrictions

Two Wheel Drive Vehicles can only be driven on sealed / bitumen road surfaces. The only exception to this condition is the last remaining kilometres of loose road surface on any major ski field access roads and any campground access roads not exceeding 500 meters in length.

No vehicle shall be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula).

Please note that in the event of an accident or breakdown in a remote area or in an area not permitted by Cheapa, you are responsible for all costs associated with the recovery of the vehicle to Cheapa's nearest branch.

Change of Vehicle

We reserve the right to substitute a comparable vehicle or superior vehicle at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract, and does not entitle the renter to any refund.

Repairs/Breakdowns

Although we run late model vehicles, it may happen that small repairs are required. Repairs up to $50 may be affected without authorization and will be reimbursed. For amounts over $50, Cheapa will need to be informed in advance. All vehicles are enrolled in the New Zealand Automobile Association and 24hr emergency roadside assistance is available.

Traffic Infringements

We reserve the right to charge the renter for any speeding or parking fines, traffic infringements, road toll fines. An additional administration fee of $60 will apply to cover the costs of processing.

Limit of Liability

In the event of no alternative vehicle being available to the renter our liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge or in the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the renter) the remainder of the hire period.

Booking Amendments

If an amendment is made to the rental dates within 14 days of collection, no refund will be made if the length of hire is shortened (that is; the rental will be charged at the number of days originally booked). A relocation fee may apply if the collection or return location is amended within 14 days of vehicle pick up or if notification occurs during the hire.

If the renter wishes to change the drop off destination after the rental has commenced, they first must obtain authorisation from the Cheapa Head Office. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of $700 will be charged.

If the customer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Reservations. This is subject to availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone or at an Cheapa Branch immediately on confirmation of the rental extension. The additional days will be at the Gross Rate available at the time of the extension.

Failure to obtain authorisation will result in the renter being charged double the daily gross rental rate.

Booking Amendments - Flex Rate Bookings

•  Prior to pick-up, changes or rental extensions will be based on the current flex rate, not the flex rate originally booked in. All rental days will be charged at the new flex rate, not just the days being extended.

•  After pick-up, changes or rental extensions must be made through Cheapa directly. The days being extended will be based on Cheapa's standard (published) rates and not flex rates.

Cleaning

The vehicle must be returned in a reasonable state of cleanliness or the hirer may be charged a cleaning fee up to $250. If applicable, the toilet and waste (grey) water tank must both be returned empty or a $150 cleaning charged will be imposed.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of Travel Insurance.

PROTECTION PACKAGE

Personal Injury

The Vehicle has third party insurance cover. It is likely that any other vehicle involved in an accident also has third party insurance cover. Personal Injury in New Zealand is covered by the Accident Compensation Commission. Cheapa strongly recommends that all passengers take out their own Personal Injury Travel Insurance.

If the renter is responsible for the accident the Vehicle's third party insurance should cover the renter for the liability except where you have committed a breach of the Vehicle's third party insurance eg drink driving.

Property Damage

The Vehicle is insured for damage to it or damage to the property of a third party. However the renter is responsible up to the amount of the applicable Liability for the cost of such damage to third party property, or to the rented Vehicle. The renter is also responsible for the cost of demurrage for the period the Vehicle is unavailable due to repairs. The Liability applies in respect of each claim, not per rental. In addition to the Liability an administration fee of $50 will be charged per claim.

The Liability is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident is reported to Cheapa, not at the completion of the rental Period. The Liability will be refunded if Cheapa is successful in recovering the cost of the damage from the third party.

Standard Liability

Cheapa's rental charge includes a Standard Liability of $5,000.

A Bond of $5,000 will be collected from the renter at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The $5,000 will be debited to the credit card account immediately.

The Standard Liability can be reduced by purchasing one of the following Reduction Options:

Reduction Option 1

A Liability of $2,500 applies. This Option can be purchased by paying to Cheapa $20 per day. The maximum amount payable for this Option is $1,000 - i.e. 50 days rental.

With this Option a Bond of $2,500 will be collected.

Reduction Option 2 (VIP Cover)

A Liability of $250 applies. This Option can be purchased by paying to Cheapa $35 per day. The maximum amount payable for this Option is $1,750 - i.e. 50 days rental.

With this Option a Bond of $250 will be collected.

Bond

With Reduction Option 1 and Reduction Option 2 a Bond is payable to Cheapa by cash, traveller's cheques or by an open signed credit card imprint with an authorization obtained (sufficient funds must available) for the amount of the Bond. Personal or company cheques are not accepted.

If the Bond for Reduction Option 1 or Reduction Option 2 is given in cash or traveller's cheques then the renter's passport must be presented on pick up. Due to security reasons the refund will be by Cheapa's company cheque, which is sent to the renter's home address from the Cheapa Head Office.

The Bond is fully refundable when the vehicle is returned to the correct location on time, is full of fuel and all other terms of the Rental Contract have been complied with. If there is damage to the vehicle on its return, the Bond will be used to cover the cost of such damage up to the amount of the relevant Liability. However if the terms of the Rental Contract are breached and the Bond is insufficient to cover the damage then any extra cost will be charged.
