This document contains a brief summary of Kea's rental conditions. The full details of Kea's rental contract do apply. Rates quoted are in Australian dollars.

Standard Excess Policy

All KEA Campers vehicles come with comprehensive insurance cover. A standard excess of $5,000.00 applies in the event of any damage to either our vehicle or third party property. The renter will also be fully liable for replacing or repairing damaged windscreens and tyres.

A security bond of $5,000 will be taken on vehicle collection. The security bond can be paid by cash, traveller's cheque or credit card. Should the bond be paid by credit card the amount will be debited to your account immediately, any currency fluctuations are not the responsibility of KEA Campers.

The bond is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date, with no damage incurred to the KEA Campers vehicle or third party property and the toilet cassette and waste water tank has been emptied and no items are lost or damaged.

- If the Bond was paid by credit card, the Bond will be refunded onto the credit card. Any currency fluctuations are not the responsibility of KEA Campers.
- If the Bond was paid with cash, the refund will be with cash.
- If the Bond was paid with traveller's cheques, the refund will be with cash or Kea company cheque.

KEA Campers offer the following two (2) options to reduce or waive the Standard Excess:

1) Excess Reduction 1
Excess Reduction 1 at $25.00 per day and $30.00 per day (4WD) will reduce the excess for any damage to either vehicle or third party property to a maximum of $2,000.00. The renter, however, will be fully liable for replacing or repairing damaged windscreens and tyres.

The bond of $2,000.00 can be paid in cash, traveller's cheques or credit card: a manual imprint of the credit card will be taken. This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date, with no damage incurred to the KEA Campers vehicle or third party property and the toilet cassette and waste water tank has been emptied and no items are lost or damaged. The total insurance charge is limited to a maximum of 50 days or $1,250.00 and $1,500.00 respectively.

2) Excess Reduction 2
Excess Reduction 2 at $35.00 per day and $40.00 per day (4WD) will waive the excess for any vehicle damage and third party property damage and the cost of replacing or repairing windscreens and tyres.

However, a security deposit of $250.00 is payable at the time of pickup to ensure that the vehicle is returned to the agreed location, on the agreed date in clean condition and the toilet cassette and waste water tank has been emptied and no items are lost or damaged. The total insurance charge is limited to a maximum of 50 days or $1,750.00 and $2,000.00 respectively.

The bond of $250.00 can be paid in cash, traveller's cheques or credit card: a manual imprint of the credit card will be taken.

IMPORTANT:
The renter is fully liable for any damage to the KEA Campers vehicle or third party property if:

1. The terms of the rental contract are breached.
2. Damage to the vehicle is caused by careless, willful or reckless driving.
3. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
4. Driving on restricted roads.
5. Water submersion or salt water damage caused through own fault.

In case of any damage to the KEA Campers vehicle or third party property a second bond will be collected to cover the excess for any subsequent damage.

Minimum Rental Duration and Costings
Minimum rental period: 5 days (special periods apply for one-way rentals).

Special periods:

Vehicle rentals are calculated on a per calendar day basis, i.e. day of pick-up or drop off is always counted as a full day irrespective of what time it is collected or dropped off.

Rental Locations (Vehicle collection & return)

Locations: Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Broome, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney

Office Hours:
Monday to Friday (including Public Holidays): 0800 to 1700 (last pick-up/drop-off at 1600)
Saturday/Sunday (including Public Holidays): 0800 to 1300 (last pick-up/drop-off at 1200)

(Late returns will be charged on a per day basis)

All branches are closed Christmas Day.

One Way Rental Fee
One-way rentals are available between all branch locations (special rental periods apply). A one-way rental fee of AU$275 is charged for rentals 20 days or less.

Broome Rentals
A remote location fee of AU$750 applies to all rentals picking up or dropping off in Broome. Only one remote location fee is charged per vehicle. This is in addition to the one-way fee if applicable.

Traffic Infringements
Kea reserve the right to charge the renter for any speeding or parking fines, traffic infringements and road toll fines. An additional administration fee of AU$25 will apply to cover the costs of processing.

Rentals in Melbourne (City Link)
With the introduction of electronic tolls to City Link roads in Melbourne (3 rd January 2000), clients will need to ensure they have a pass to use the roads. Clients without a pass will be liable of fines up to AU$150.

For infrequent users of City Link, a Standard Day Pass is available by calling 13 26 29 (within Australia only). More information available at http://www.citylink.vic.gov.au/

Driver's Licence

Road Restrictions
Vehicles can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained access roads leading to holiday and/or national parks (maximum 20 kilometres one way). 4WD's are also allowed on recognized 4WD tracks.

Special terms and conditions apply for travel in the following areas: Cape York, Simpson Desert, Gunbarrel Highway, Canning Stock Route, Oondnadatta Track, Birdsville Track, the Warburton Road, Tanami Track, Gibb River Road and any other area in excess of 100 kilometres from the nearest sealed road.

No vehicle is to be taken into salt water. No animals permitted in vehicles. No smoking permitted in vehicles.

Repairs
Repairs of up to $100.00 may be effected without authorisation and will be reimbursed. Amounts above $100.00 require approval from KEA on-road assistance.

Vehicle Return
All vehicles must be returned with a full fuel tank. Re-fuelling at our branch will be charged at $2.50 per litre of fuel, plus a handling fee of AU$15.00.

Booking Amendments

- Prior to pick-up, Salamanda Travel can assist with booking amendments up until the date of pick-up. This is subject to vehicle availability and may result in rate adjustments.

- After pick-up, if the hirer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must contact Kea direct and obtain authorisation from the destination branch. This is subject to availability and any extra rental days are charged at Kea's standard (brochure) rates. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone on confirmation of the rental extension.

Bedding
Bedding includes (per person), pillows, pillow cases, duvets, sheets and towels. You may wish to bring your own beach towel.

Living Equipment
Each vehicle is supplied with complimentary living equipment, including cooking utensils, pots/pans/frypan, plates & bowls, cups & glasses, gas kettle, electric kettle, dish cloth & brush, tea towels, bucket, dustpan & brush, electric toaster, cutlery, tin opener, corkscrew, gas lighter, coffee plunger, microwave cookware (applicable vehicles only), food containers and chopping board.

Vehicles also come with clothes hangers, clothes pegs, fire extinguisher, fresh water hose, waste water hose, biodegradable toilet chemicals and full LPG bottle. (You are responsible to refill the gas bottle(s) during your hire only).

Luggage
Soft bags are recommended for easier storage inside the vehicles. Or l uggage can be stored at Kea rental locations free of charge at the owners own risk.

Kea clients receive a 10% discount at Top Tourist Parks and Family Parks (vouchers issued at pick-up).

Change of Vehicle
If, for reasons beyond our control, the reserved vehicle is not available, we reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost to the client. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to any form of refund.

Taxes and Local State Tax
All charges include 10% GST and 2.5% Local State Tax. All rates and conditions are subject to change in accordance with changes in government taxes.
